A day at the pyramids from the Red Sea, and back to your hotel the same evening. You fly from Hurghada in the morning, see Giza, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum with a guide, and fly back — around eight hours door to door.
The museum sits on the Giza plateau about two kilometres from the pyramids, which is why a single day is enough. It holds the complete Tutankhamun collection, some five thousand objects displayed together for the first time, and it is the reason this trip is worth making now even for someone who saw Cairo years ago.
Most people on the Red Sea coast are there for the diving and the sun, and treat Cairo as a separate trip for another year. It is 450 km away: a long day by road, a short flight. This is the version that fits inside a beach holiday without costing two days of it.

Tu primera parada será una de las siete maravillas del mundo, y resulta verdaderamente sobrecogedora. La Gran Pirámide de Guiza es la mayor del mundo y se calcula que se tardó más de 20 años en construirla. Junto a las pirámides se alza además la Esfinge, una criatura enigmática con cuerpo de león y cabeza humana.

Después irás al Museo Egipcio para comenzar tu visita: el mayor museo de antigüedades egipcias del mundo. Alberga más de 120 000 piezas que van desde la Prehistoria hasta la época grecorromana, y conserva algunos de los objetos más famosos del mundo, como la colección de Tutankamón, con el ajuar y los tesoros del joven rey.

El día continúa en Jan el-Jalili, un bazar centenario situado en el corazón de El Cairo islámico. Es un laberinto de callejuelas repletas de tiendas que venden de todo, desde especias y recuerdos hasta artesanía tradicional egipcia.

Más tarde, el vehículo privado te llevará al aeropuerto de El Cairo y, a tu llegada a Hurgada, te recibiremos para trasladarte al hotel.

Is it worth flying to Cairo for one day?
Hurghada to Cairo is about 450 km. By road that is most of the day in each direction; by air it leaves enough time at Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum to be a visit rather than a photo stop. Both sit on the same plateau, which is what makes one day enough.
Which museum does the trip visit?
The Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza, not the older Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. It holds the complete Tutankhamun collection, and it is on the same plateau as the pyramids.
Do I need a visa or extra documents for the domestic flight?
It is a domestic flight within Egypt, so no additional visa is involved. Bring the passport you entered Egypt on — it is required at the airport.
