Cairo in a day, from Luxor, without the overnight train or the ten-hour drive. You fly up in the morning, spend the day at the Giza pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, and fly back the same evening. It exists for one kind of traveller: someone whose trip is built around the south — Luxor, Aswan, a Nile cruise — who does not want to leave Egypt without standing at the pyramids.
The museum being the Grand Egyptian Museum is what makes the day work. It stands on the Giza plateau, about two kilometres from the pyramids, so the two halves of the day are in one place rather than separated by a drive into central Cairo and back. It also holds the complete Tutankhamun collection — around five thousand objects, shown together for the first time.
Flights are domestic, return, and in the price, along with entrance fees, lunch and an air-conditioned car. What that buys is not only convenience: a Cairo day trip done badly is four hours in traffic and a rushed hour at Giza, and flying is what removes it.

Después irás al Museo Egipcio para comenzar tu visita: el mayor museo de antigüedades egipcias del mundo. Alberga más de 120 000 piezas que van desde la Prehistoria hasta la época grecorromana, y conserva algunos de los objetos más famosos del mundo, como la colección de Tutankamón, con el ajuar y los tesoros del joven rey.

El día continúa en Jan el-Jalili, un bazar centenario situado en el corazón de El Cairo islámico. Es un laberinto de callejuelas repletas de tiendas que venden de todo, desde especias y recuerdos hasta artesanía tradicional egipcia.

Más tarde, el vehículo privado te llevará al aeropuerto de El Cairo y, a tu llegada a Luxor, te recibiremos para trasladarte al hotel.

Are the flights from Luxor to Cairo included in the price?
Yes. Return domestic flights are part of the price, along with entrance fees, lunch, bottled water and a private air-conditioned car for the day. Tipping is the only thing not included.
Can you really see Cairo in one day from Luxor?
You can see the Giza pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum properly, which is what this day covers, and they are two kilometres apart. It is not a day for Islamic Cairo, Saqqara and the bazaar as well — a day trip promising those is promising a coach window, not a visit.
Why fly rather than take the train or drive?
Luxor to Cairo is around 650 km. Driving it is nine to ten hours each way and the sleeper train takes the night, so neither leaves a usable day at the pyramids. The flight is what makes a single-day return possible at all.
Which museum does the trip visit?
The Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza, not the older Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. It holds the complete Tutankhamun collection and stands about two kilometres from the pyramids, so the whole day happens in one place.
What is not included?
Tipping. Everything else on the day — flights, transfers, entrance fees, lunch and water — is in the price.
