What 1,025 travellers said about Egypt

Every review left with one Luxor operator between 2024 and 2026 — 1025 of them, across 96 trips and 25 countries — counted to see what people actually talk about when they come back.

What guests choose to talk about

Organisation comes first by a wide margin, and by more than twice the next subject. Food and cleanliness come last — not as complaints, but as things guests simply do not reach for when describing the trip afterwards.

Which places stay with people

Abu Simbel is named more often than Karnak, which is worth pausing on: Karnak is in almost every itinerary and Abu Simbel is an optional extra most guests pay more to add. The thing people travel furthest for is the thing they mention.

Not really — the three sit within four hundredths of each other, which is the more useful finding. A weak link would show here.

How this was counted

  • Reviews are collected in person, at the end of a trip, with the guide present. A group writing in one sitting produces closely similar wording, and the corpus shows it: 1025 reviews carry 443 distinct texts.
  • So subjects and places are counted over those 443 texts, not over all 1025 reviews. Counting every review would let one popular phrasing vote twenty times, measuring how often a sentence was reused rather than how often a subject was raised.
  • Ratings, countries, trip types and years are counted per review, because each is recorded per guest and repeated wording does not affect them.
  • Subjects are matched by keyword, which counts mentions and not approval. A review calling the food disappointing counts under food exactly as one praising it. With a mean of 4.83 the corpus is overwhelmingly positive, so these read as what guests chose to discuss.
  • This is one operator’s guests, not a survey of Egypt. People who disliked a trip enough to say so elsewhere are not in it. It is a real sample of a real business, which is a different and smaller claim than a national one.

The reviews themselves are on the guest reviews page, and the prices behind these trips are in the Egypt Travel Price Index. Compiled by the Travel To Egypt team, Nazlet Al-Zanati Street, Luxor, and regenerated from the live review set each time this page is built.
