All five of our multi-day Egypt itineraries begin the same way and end the same way. Day 1 is the arrival in Cairo. Day 2 is the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum. The last day is the flight home. Everything that makes one trip different from another happens in between — and it is decided on day 3, by which way you leave Cairo.

Day 3: three ways out of Cairo
- Fly to Luxor. The 5-day plan and the 8-day Nile cruise both land in Luxor and see Karnak and Luxor Temple the same afternoon — one from a hotel, the other from the ship.
- Fly to Aswan. The 6-day cruise and the 8-day plan with Hurghada start at the southern end, with Philae and the High Dam, and sail north to Luxor.
- Already in Luxor. The 6-day history plan flies down on the evening of day 2, so its day 3 is a drive north to Abydos and Dendera — the only plan of the five that reaches them.
Whichever way you go, the West Bank — the Valley of the Kings with three tombs, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon — is on all five.
Where you sleep
Nights by place, counted from each itinerary.
| Itinerary | Cairo | Luxor hotel | On the Nile | Hurghada |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 days | 3 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 6 days, history | 2 | 3 | 0 | 0 |
| 6 days, Nile cruise | 2 | 0 | 3 | 0 |
| 8 days, cruise and Hurghada | 2 | 0 | 3 | 2 |
| 8 days, Nile cruise | 3 | 0 | 4 | 0 |
The two cruise lengths are the two directions. Three nights is Aswan to Luxor, on the 6-day cruise and the 8-day plan with Hurghada; four nights is Luxor to Aswan, on the 8-day Nile cruise. What the extra night costs is in Luxor to Aswan or Aswan to Luxor.
If you have seven days
We sell no seven-day package: the plans run five, six and eight days. And on both eight-day plans the seventh and eighth days add no new site — one is the beach at Hurghada, the other an optional Abu Simbel and a free day in Cairo. What each extra day reaches is counted in how many days you need in Egypt. For seven days, ask us and we will plan them.
Where these figures come from
The itineraries of our five multi-day packages as they are published, day by day, and their prices as shown on each package page on 24 October 2026. Nights are counted from each day's own description of where it ends. What a cruise includes is in what is included in a Nile cruise, and every price we publish sits in one comparable unit in the Egypt Travel Price Index.
